Our FIS team works intensively with you and your family to help you achieve your parenting goals. We will assist you to develop the skills to care for your children and to keep them living with you, safely. Our approach involves:
- Intensive, in-home support for parents and their children
- Supporting you to meet the needs of your children, and to keep them healthy and safe
- Increasing family stability
- Providing you with practical strategies to enhance your family unit
- Helping you understand and manage your children’s behaviours
- Supporting healthy attachments between parents and children
- Counselling and support for both parents and children
- You want to keep your children living safely with you at home
- You want your children to be returned to your care
- You have concerns about your child’s safety
- You wish to improve your skills as a parent
- You have a current case open with the Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services

The Family Intervention Service is an intensive in-home intervention program, involving regular in-home support to reach your parenting goals. The program is designed to meet the individual needs of each family, however typically involves intensive intervention and support over a period of 3 months. This intensive model allows our team to establish a relationship with your family so that we can effectively help you to meet the needs and goals of your family unit. We then provide ongoing education, practical strategies, support and guidance so that you can keep your children healthy and safe. Our team provides ongoing counselling and support for both parents and children, as well as support to access other relevant services.
